Medical debt hurts debtors’ credit reports

Unfortunately, when people do not have health insurance – or when their health insurance does not pay enough of their medical debt – their credit score often goes down if they cannot pay the medical debt as quickly as the medical collection agencies want.  To further punish people for having medical problems seems unfair to many, and is being investigated by the CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau), a federal agency created by the Dodd-Frank legislation.
